Mission Statement
The mission of Fronteras Unidas Pro Salud is to provide basic healthcare, reproductive healthcare, and sexual and reproductive education for families in the impoverished, rural, and urban areas of Baja California, and to enable women and men to manage their own reproductive health and the health of their children.

Overview
Fronteras Unidas Pro Salud is a non-profit organization that provides high-quality, low-cost reproductive healthcare and education to families throughout Baja California.
All too often, the people most in need of health care—the young and the poor—are overlooked. Fronteras Unidas Pro Salud reaches out to these underserved groups, making it easy for them to access the services they need.
|
Our community outreach programs educate people about sexuality and reproductive health in their homes, their workplaces, their schools and shelters. The Gente Joven program provides young people from all walks of life a safe place to talk about sexual health. The Promotores Program brings education into our clients’ own homes through health educators who go door-to door in their own neighborhoods. The Industrial Program offers maquiladora workers classes in the workplace on family planning, reproductive health, and domestic violence.
We provide clinical services at seven locations in Tijuana. Because it can be difficult for our clients to arrange transportation to urban areas, six of our clinics are located directly within the communities we serve. Our Sexual and Reproductive Health Center in downtown Tijuana offers state-of-the-art surgical care as well as comprehensive reproductive healthcare and education.

Goals
Fronteras Unidas Pro Salud is dedicated to:
* Responding to the unmet need for family planning and sexual and
reproductive health among Mexico’s poor.
* Expanding the culture of sexual health and promoting family life education among young people.
* Empowering women by offering improved choices in their sexual and reproductive lives.
|
History
Fronteras Unidas Pro Salud is the result of a partnership between Mexfam (a respected Mexican family planning organization) and Planned Parenthood of San Diego & Riverside Counties (PPSDRC).
In 1988, Mexfam and PPSDRC formed a historic partnership to improve sexual health on both sides of the border. Six years later, this organization became an independent non-profit agency, Fundacion de Proyectos Fronterizos. The organization grew, and in 1996 changed its name to Fronteras Unidas Pro Salud to better reflect its binational commitment to healthcare.

Summary
Fronteras Unidas Pro Salud is dedicated to the idea that healthcare is a right that transcends political borders and economic lines. Everyone, no matter where they live or how poor they are, should be able to access affordable, high-quality healthcare services. At Fronteras Unidas Pro Salud, we do not wait for clients to come to us. We seek them out. And we will continue to seek them out until all Mexicans receive the healthcare they deserve. |
